Peggy Powell

Peggy Powell is now with her dearest Confidant, the one she spent countless hours speaking with during her time here. She was the beloved wife of Boone Powell, Jr, who served on the Young Life Board of Trustees for more than 25 years. Peggy met Boone at Baylor their freshman year, and they were married after their junior year, in 1958.

Alongside Boone, Peggy possessed an unrelenting passion for people. Her love of kids and desire for them to know the Savior was a powerful witness to many. In 1969 the couple helped start Young Life in Abilene, Texas. In celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary in 2008, they sponsored an entire busload of kids — granting scholarships for 50 kids (one for each year of their marriage) to attend camp at SharpTop Cove.

The Powells’ giving investments also included Crooked Creek development (especially the adult guest lodge), the Northeast Texas Region, and North Texas Capernaum.

At home they were the epitome of hospitality — opening their homes in Dallas and Colorado Springs to Young Life and other ministries. At camp, they were model adult guest hosts who impacted hundreds of adult guests.

Finally, Peggy was passionate about prayer. Only when we are in the presence of our dear Savior, will we know the full weight of her intercession for kids and leaders.

Please lift up Boone and the entire Powell family during this time of loss.
